Residential Properties

A residential building is defined as one that devotes more than half of its floor area to habitation. In other terms, a residential building offers sleeping accommodations along with or without dining and cooking areas.

Types of Residential Buildings


Individual residences or private homes:

Ownership of individual homes or other private dwellings is often limited to members of a single family. If there are numerous families residing there, the structure is referred to as a multiple family private dwelling.

Rooming or Hotel Houses:

Multiple or a collection of buildings that are managed by one organisation are known as lodging or rooming houses. In this instance, various people are given separate accommodations on a temporary or permanent basis.

Dormitories:

Dormitories are a different category of residential structures where multiple people can share a single bed. This category includes military barracks and dormitories for students.

Apartments:

Large structures with individual homes for various families make up apartments or flats. Apartment will house at least three households living apart from one another.

Hotels:

Hotels are similar to lodging houses and are likewise run by a single management, although they primarily offer temporary lodging. This category includes hotels, inns, and so on.
